About 5 Star Support

5 Star Support builds business operating systems for service companies that want software shaped around the way the work actually gets done — with an ownership-first model instead of another permanent software subscription.

Why the company exists

Software should fit the business — not force the business to fit the software.

5 Star Support was built around a simple idea: a service business should be able to run its day-to-day operation in software designed around its workflow, without being trapped in an endless cycle of monthly software rent and per-seat charges.

Many small and independent businesses end up with a patchwork of tools: one system for customers, another for scheduling, another for technicians, another for reporting, spreadsheets for the things the software does not handle, and paper for everything else. That fragmentation creates duplicate entry, inconsistent records, missed handoffs, and more places for information to disappear.

5 Star Support approaches the problem from the opposite direction. The workflow comes first. The software is built around the sequence of work — from the first customer interaction through the job, the handoff between employees, payment, reporting, history, and follow-up.

That philosophy is what led to the Auto Repair System and continues to guide custom builds for HVAC, home services, car sales, real estate, dental offices, and other service businesses.

How Jeffrey builds

Less “software package.” More operating system for the business.

The goal is not to bolt features together. The goal is to understand the operation deeply enough that the software becomes the place where the business runs.

Start with the workflow

Customer intake, scheduling, work in progress, approvals, notes, inventory, payments, reporting and follow-up are mapped as one connected operation.

Build the daily workspace

The most-used screens are designed first: the front desk, staff or technician workflow, customer records, current jobs and the information people need without hunting through menus.

Connect the devices

When the business needs more than one computer or role, the system is designed so the front desk, shop floor, admin users and other devices can stay in sync.

Test with real use

Actual usage exposes the edge cases a demo never will. The Auto Repair System has been refined through live day-to-day shop use and repeated hardening of data, sync and workflow behavior.

Own the core system

The ready-to-deploy model is designed around a one-time software purchase rather than a recurring 5 Star Support core-software subscription or per-technician seat fee.

Expand only when useful

Websites, customer portals, staff apps, admin tools and custom modules are added when they solve a real operational problem — not just to make the feature list longer.

Founder note

Why ownership matters.

“I wanted to build software a business could keep using because it owns the system it paid for — not software that becomes another permanent monthly bill just to keep the doors running.”Jeffrey Underwood, Founder — 5 Star Support

That does not mean every outside service in the world becomes free. Payment processors, optional third-party data providers, hosting chosen for certain web products, app-store accounts or future support can carry their own costs. The point is that the core 5 Star Support software model is not designed around charging the customer forever for every employee who needs to use it.

What gets built

Software across the whole operation.

  • Front desk and administrative systems
  • Technician and staff portals
  • Customer portals and mobile experiences
  • Business websites connected to operational workflows
  • Customer, vehicle, equipment and job histories
  • Invoices, payments, unpaid balances and reporting
  • Inventory, vendors, service packages and internal notes
  • Multi-device synchronization and role-based workflows
  • Custom modules for industry-specific processes
Proof over promises

The flagship product was shaped in a working repair shop.

The Auto Repair System is the clearest example of the 5 Star Support development process. It has been used in live repair-shop operations, iterated as real edge cases appeared, and expanded into a connected front-desk and technician workflow.

Customer intake

Customer and vehicle records, appointments, VIN-based vehicle information and reusable history are handled in one flow.

Repair-order lifecycle

Labor, parts, estimates, approvals, technician status, payment, invoices and reports stay attached to the same job.

Continuous hardening

Synchronization, duplicate prevention, data preservation, reporting and performance have been repeatedly tested against real shop behavior.

What 5 Star Support is not

No fake scale. No invented customer numbers. No generic “AI software company” story.

5 Star Support is intentionally straightforward about where it is today: a young, founder-led software company building serious business systems, starting with a proven Auto Repair platform and expanding carefully into other service industries.

That means the website does not need to pretend the company has been around for twenty years or serves thousands of businesses. The advantage is different: direct access to the builder, fast product iteration, willingness to customize around the actual operation, and a pricing model that does not depend on squeezing a new subscription out of every seat.

As the company grows, the same standard remains: publish the real product, show the real workflow, explain the real terms, and earn trust through what has actually been built.
